Amadou B.
Age: 12
Location: Conakry, Guinea
Last year of school before dropping out: 3rd grade
Sponsorship need: Primary School ($500)
Amadou's teachers describe him as a very "sweet student."
Amadou was forced to drop out of school in 3rd grade because his family could not afford the fees. He has nine siblings, five brother and four sisters. He helps out with housework at home, finding water, washing clothes, and taking care of the other children.
Like many MindLeaps students at first, Amadou's self-esteem was very low. He is very quiet, typically spending time alone, but as soon as he is given any attention from the teachers during class he lights up. The smallest comment, whether a compliment or correction, goes a long way with him. His ability to understand and correct his movements shows how much potential he has with just a little extra attention and appreciation. He was very inspired by the teachers at MindLeaps, and now his future dream is to become a teacher.
