Somedays his mother and grandmother make enough money to buy food, but on the other days, he and his siblings cannot go to school and will not have anything to eat.
Sekouba’s father retired from the army and left the family to live in N’Zérékoré. His mother begs on the streets of Conakry. The family survives off of charity and what they can sell in Conakry from preparing Thô (a traditional African food). He has six siblings. His mother and grandmother are in charge, and somedays they make enough money to buy food, but on the other days, they cannot go to school and will not have anything to eat. Sekouba has enjoyed his time at MindLeaps and his mother has noticed his behavior changing: “We are very happy with your program and what you provide (programming, donations, and food). The change has really been concrete since being with you, he goes out to play more with kids his age now.”
